Eleanor shrugged. “I always find you amusing, Brother. Why, I only have to look at you and I feel an urge to laugh.”

“You are not too old for a box around the ears,” Andrew quipped.

“Ah, but I am much too quick. You would never catch me.” Eleanor grinned through her reply, giving her brother a nudge in the arm as she neared.

Hugh observed their relationship with a contented interest, marveling at the easy manner they shared with one another. He knew there were brothers who would be outraged by such perceived impudence, but Andrew only chuckled. Hugh could see how dearly the siblings adored one another and wondered if Andrew would approve of the match if they were to tell him what they had confessed to one another yesterday.
